John S. McKillop, Ph.D. John McKillop is widely recognized within the MEMS industry as a leader who combines deep technical expertise with innovative strategic thinking and sound business judgment. He has led the commercialization of several MEMS industry firsts – including RF MEMS switches and optical switches & attenuators. This includes more than twenty years experience in both Fortune 500 companies and venture backed start-ups, where he has been both a founder and C-level contributor. During his career he has grown MEMS companies from start-up through acquisition and integration into Fortune 500 companies, and has been a major contributor to venture backed fundraising rounds and sales of startups totaling more than $650 MM.
Dr. McKillop has led and managed engineering, product development (design, layout, fabrication, packaging & test) and operations in both vertically integrated and fabless companies. His experience includes work as both a foundry supplier (managing foundry engineering for Cronos / JDS Uniphase ) and customer (leading process transfer and qualification of a high volume off-shore foundry for TeraVicta).
Dr. McKillop has also authored numerous publications and invited presentations related to MEMS technology and has taught short courses on MEMS technology, MEMS product development and MEMS reliability and qualification testing. He holds a B. A. in Chemistry from Rice University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Stanford University.
